Hi, today I'm going to be introducing you to quilt block Seventy-Nine, Louisiana. But before I do that, I thought I would show you the view I have from my sewing machine. I get a great view of my pool. I enjoy this view. However, on sunny days like this it's hard to stay in the sewing room all day. So after a morning of sewing I head out to the pool for some vitamin D.
Living in New Hampshire, we don't get a very long summer. We can only use the pool June, July and August. So when we have a beautiful day like this, I take advantage of it.
If you are new to my blog, I am currently making 200 quilts using the 200 quilting blocks from my favorite quilt book, "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins". I wanted a place people could go to see the quilt blocks sewn together. As you sew the blocks together, you usually get a secondary quilt design.

Louisiana is another fun pinwheel block. These blocks are great for baby quilts. I love the design you see in the middle of the four blocks, the white fabric. It's the same design that the lighter blue fabric makes. But when you look at just the quilt block alone, you don't realize what the end result will be.

I did make a baby quilt using the Louisiana quilt block. I wanted to use just a few colors in this quilt. I chose blue, yellow and green. I really like the end result. I quilted this quilt with free motion quilting designs I learned from Leah Day.
