When I saw this pattern, I just had to make this quilt. The pattern was origianally a square but I turned it to make a diamond shape. I don't usually use these wonderful bright colors. Sometimes I think I am afraid to use the bright colors but they always turn out great. I love the contrast between the bright colors and the white. I think I will try alot more quilts like this. And I especially like the pattern turned on the diamond. I had found that wonderful small daisy print with all the colors. It was easy to then choose which fabrics I wanted in the quilt. This quilt is so bright and cheery. For the back of the quilt I used a fun colorful flannel. I like using the flannel on the back for that extra cozy feeling. This quilt would be great to hang on the wall of a nursury, use on the floor for baby to crawl on or use in the baby's crib. I have put much love in this quilt and know that there is a baby out there that will grow up loving this quilt. Happy Quilting. Carolyn I visit my grandmother in the nursing home once a week. I usually spend four to five hours with her. She doesn't have alot of interest in doing as much as she used to, so we sit and talk and look at old pictures. She tends to get cold from just sitting so I designed the "Lovie Lap Quilt with Pockets" to keep her hands warm. The pockets are lined in flannel for extra warmth and the back of the quilt is also flannel. The quilt size is approximately 30" x 30", a comfortable size for her lap without being too big or dragging on the floor. I also put another pocket in the lap quilt for my grandmother's tissues and chap stick. She is always looking for tissues. Bear
This lap quilt was such a big hit that I decided to turn it into a business. I have made lap quilts with Cats, Irish, Patriotic, Floral; you name it and I can probably find a fabric for it. I have made several for the men as well. My grandmother's quilt is a nautical theme because she and my grandfather lived on the coast of Maine for many years. Here are a couple of my Lovie Lap Quilts: |
