Last weekend I had the privilege of seeing an eagle. Sorry to say I wasn't quick enough with the camera.
I have made a "Lovie Lap Quilt" with the Four Knaves quilt block. The "Lovie Lap Quilts" can be purchased here on my website.
I just have to share my new view from my sewing room while I am on the coast of Maine. The view is just amazing. I was taking the picture of my new view when a humming bird came to the window boxes. That's what the picture on the right is. If I didn't have the camera in my hand, I never would have gotten the picture of the humming bird. He moves so fast. Last weekend I had the privilege of seeing an eagle. Sorry to say I wasn't quick enough with the camera. Okay, now on to quilt block eighty-two, Four Knaves. Four Knaves is another easy quilt block from my favorite quilt book, "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins". You have half square triangles and triangles added to that. You want to be careful matching up your points. Squaring up each section as you go helps alot. I like the design you see when you sew the four quilt blocks together. The brown really pops! You can see the free motion quilting I have done. I thoroughly enjoy free motion quilting now that I know how. I took a class with Leah Day. She is a wonderful teacher.

Summer is here! I took the 4th of July week off to move to Maine for the summer and for a vacation. It was an extremely warm week even on the coast of Maine. The only cooling off was going on my sisters new 21' boat and swimming in the ocean. Maine ocean is a little shocking to the system but definitely cools you off. The weather has cooled off today making it a great day to quilt. I am excited to be quilting again. Quilt block 81 of my 200 quilt blocks is called "Double Square". What a nice easy pattern. In Judy's pattern in "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins", she uses only two colors, a light and a dark. I chose three colors to give it a little variation. I was wanting to make a sweet baby boy quilt and this pattern did the trick. I urge you to give the double square quilt block a try. It is certainly a great beginner block. And remember to square up all your half square triangles so you end up with nice points. I have free motion quilted spirals all over the quilt. I learned free motion quilting from Leah Day. If you ever want to learn free motion quilting, I highly recommend her videos. She can also be found on Craftsy.
