I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and to thank you for following my blog.
Chain and Hourglass is a fantastic quilt block. I wouldn't necessarily try this if you are a beginner. Once you have a few quilts under your belt, give this one a try. I used batiks for my quilt which gives it a mosaic feel. The block really isn't hard, you just want to make sure you square up each section of the block. I had alot of fun choosing fabrics for this quilt. I decided to go a little wild with my colors. Here is what the four blocks look like when put together.Don 't you just love the look of this quilt. It has become one of my favorites. This is a lap quilt size quilt. You can purchase this quilt here on my website.Cotton Reels - What a fabulous beginner quilt block. There are two squares and two half square triangles in this quilt block. It works up fast and easy. This block will convince you to keep quilting. Take a look.If you wanted to change it up, you could try two different light colors or use a rainbow of colors. But if you are a beginner, you could just use three fabrics. This block doesn't change when you add four blocks together. It is one of the few who don't.I decided to make a "Lovie Lap Quilt" with this pattern. I think it came out very cute. See what you think.
Twister is a fabulous block. The half square triangles are the hardest it gets but again, it looks very impressive. Take a look:This block uses four fabrics but you could easily use more. You could change each dark corner piece because they make pinwheels when you put four blocks together. This would make a wonderful baby quilt. Take a look and see the magic.I think this is another quilt block I will definitely have to try again. Had I known what it was going to look like when put together, I would have done a baby quilt with many colors. But, I didn't know quite what it would look like so I made a "Love Lap Quilt".It makes a nice lap quilt as well. The "Lovie Lap Quilt" is a quilt I designed after visits with my grandmother in the nursing home. Her hands were always cold so I included pockets lined in flannel for extra warmth. Now my grandmother insists on bring her quilt with her every time we go out. She loves having it in the car. She is amazed how warm her hands stay. |
AuthorI have been quilting for close to 30 years and after loosing my job twelve years ago, I am now able to do what I love, QUILT! I specialize in baby quilts and have designed the "Lovie Lap Quilt" with pockets. Archives
