Another wonderful quilt block from "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins". Gentleman's Fancy is a lot of fun to make and watch come together. In Judy's book, she has this block made with just two fabrics, a light and a dark, which actually makes the block pop more than what I chose to do. I went with a softer look.
This certainly isn't a hard block, but I wouldn't recommend it for your first quilt. It is a little more involved than just your basic block. As always, you have to square up each piece as you sew, making sure all your points are where they should be.
I used the Gentleman's Fancy quilt block to make a "Lovie Lap Quilt" with pockets. Click on this link for more "Lovie Lap Quilts". If you would like to follow my Blog, just click on the RSS Feed button to the right. On to the next quilt block...

I have been quilting for close to 30 years and after loosing my job twelve years ago, I am now able to do what I love, QUILT! I specialize in baby quilts and have designed the "Lovie Lap Quilt" with pockets.
