What a fantastic quilt block. Nautilus is not difficult to make but you must be sure to square up each time you sew on another piece. It's like a spiral going around and around. You just keep adding on your next piece. It's a lost like sewing a log cabin block but instead on straight pieces, you are sewing on triangles.I was going for a specific look with this quilt. I wanted a soft pastel quilt. The effect was really great; however, you can make a very dramatic quilt with the pattern if you use one light color fabric with one dark color.Choosing these fabrics was not comfortable for me. I knew I wanted the quilt to look soft, but it was stepping out of my comfort zone to use such a variety of fabrics. I truly love the results. I also had a lot of fun with the free motion quilting.

i really like this quilt. With the yellow it reminds me of the waves at the beach. Nice job.
