Cake Stand, Quilt block Sixty-Four

We had some more beautiful snow this past week here in New Hampshire.  It was a wet snow so it stuck to all the branches making a winter wonderland. 

Snowy days make great quilting days.  I like staying in where it is warm and sew a quilt to snuggle under.  My next quilt block is called Cake Stand.  This is another great quilt block from my favorite quilt book, "Around the Block with Judy Hopkins".  I am currently sewing all 200 quilt blocks into 200 quilts.
Cake Stand is a nice easy block, great for beginners.

I didn't play around with this block like I have on some of the others.  I could have turned the blocks to have them facing different directions, but I don't think it would have been what I was looking for.  I used the Cake Stand block to make a "Lovie Lap Quilt" with pockets.  You can purchase these quilts here on my website.
