A change of pace, The Log Cabin Block

This week I took a break from my 200 quilt block project.  I decided to make two quilts using the log cabin block.  I enjoy using this block.  There are so many variations.  The first quilt I made was a baby quilt.  I had a cute center block that was rectangle instead of the usual square.  This just made the overall quilt slightly longer.  

Because my center block was directional, I could not turn the block.  Also the block was not square so I wouldn't be able to turn them.  


The next log cabin quilt I made is a square block but still different from the traditional log cabin block.

The last strips on the block are thinner and I only have one green thin strip and one pink thin strip where all the other prints have two strips of each.  

I turned these blocks, alternating them to make a stripe.  I could have turned them to make several different pattern
